I had a different brand before and it only came on in the dark. I expected this one to do the same. I put it where I enter the room where I have to go through the room to get to the lamp. I don't have to turn on the light when the room is bright; I only need light when it's dark. This wastes battery power. Another problem I have is that the light only stays on for 10 seconds. Barely made it to my other light. The previous one stayed on for 1 minute and dimmed before going off. Otherwise it works fine. It turns on when I walk past it. I see it in the closet, which will always be dark while browsing :-).
