Best for braiding in my opinion

Yes I can knit without a needle but if you are working with slippery yarn, wide cables or for a variety of other reasons this braiding needle is the best. After removing the holding stitches, the needle simply falls down without the risk of stitches falling out when knitting cross stitches. Then use the short end of the needle to finish the cable. Since I knit a lot of braids (and have done so for over 60 years), when I have 2 I always have one on hand and don't have to hunt for a paperclip to unwind.
