Worth the investment

After knitting and crocheting for 30 years, I decided to step up my game and block my projects. I bought one set for some infant blankets I was gifting, was very happy with the result. Mats are good quality, lock well, the grid is quite helpful and the pins are great quality. They lock tightly and the mats are thick enough that the pins can accommodate them at an angle, to avoid pricking!) As I finished two larger throws, I bought three more sets so I could finish larger projects, and have the…

Pros
  • Knitting & Crochet
Cons
  • Gridlines may not be straight, affecting the accuracy of the blocking process

Yay! No Stink!: my feedback

What did I like about these blocks? I have bought blocks and returned them because they smell toxic. I don't care if airing them out will get rid of the smell, but I just don't want anything that "chemical" to work with . WhenI unzipped the plastic case that these blocks came in, and put my nose right inside. No smell, no stink, no chemical odor, etc.

Pros
  • Very sturdy and easy to assemble. I especially like the option to buy more and make an even larger mat.
Cons
  • T-pins may be difficult to remove from the mats

High quality, serves its purpose well!

After finally getting to use these, I am very happy with the results. They work as described, and the lines on the mats really do make blocking items with straight edges much easier. When shopping for mats, this was the ultimate deciding factor for me and I am happy I spent a little extra to get this feature. The mats are sturdy, the lines do seem to line up when the mats are interlocked (although I didn't test every single mat yet), and my knit piece dried with no issues. I also got the…

Pros
  • 14.3 x 13.6 x 7.2 inches
Cons
  • Mats may slide around during use

Almost perfect: my feedback

I had purchased this brand of mats a couple of years ago and I wanted another set for larger layouts. So I bought this because it was the same brand, and assumed it would work best. The problem is that the lines from one set do not match up with the lines of the other set. I wasn't exactly sure which item I had purchased originally from this company, so was making my best guess. It makes me very sad, but not enough to go through the trouble of returning them and then trying to find another set…

Pros
  • perfect for all of my projects
Cons
  • Packaging can be difficult to open

Knit IQs blocking mats are everything I was looking for!

I've avoided blocking like the plague! Many items I've crocheted really don't need it, but some really do. So, I read and read and read some more about ways to do it. I finally broke down and bought these mats and I wish I'd done it a long time ago. The mats are thick, they fit together nicely and the lines make it easy to pin out items evenly. I bought some a few years ago, but have decided to block some lightweight afghans and needed more to block an afghan all at one time. These are high…

Pros
  • Exactly what I needed for blocking my sweaters
Cons
  • Not compatible with all yarn types

Disappointed best in my review

These. Locks are not universal as far as interlocking goes. I had one set too small for my project. I ordered these I didn’t know what brand I had. I was disappointed that the two sets did not interlock. They are also very expensive. Not worth the money. I could have gotten the ones they use for children and faired just as well if not better, definitely cheaper.

Pros
  • Ideal for those who frequently knit or crochet
Cons
  • Mats may not be suitable for use on certain surfaces, such as carpet

Great product so far - recommend and would buy again!

I just purchased these after looking at a lot of similar products and overall, so far, I am very pleased. I had always blocked my items on top of the ironing board or on towels on the floor, but decided these would be a good investment (a little pricey for what they are, but seem to be nice quality) Some of the reviews mentioned an odor. Being very sensitive to odors, I was concerned about that; however found almost none. If I put my nose against the blocks I can barely smell a trace of an…

Blocking mats are of excellent quality.

Used blocking mats to block a needlepointpiece. Mats are of excellent quality and easy to join and use; locks easily and tightly. Casey’s great to have; it’s keeps mats protected and is easy to store.

Pros
  • Mats can be easily joined together for even more expansive space
Cons
  • Mats may create a static charge, leading to clingy fibers

Great product, but a bit pricey

I’m glad I got them. They are definitely a better solution for the blocking knitted items. Blocks are thick, lines on them do not run when wet and they are very helpful. The only one thing, to think about if someone wants to buy them, is the quantity of the sets. When I knit a sweater (jumper), I usually make back and front in the same time. I make sleeves the same way. It is guaranteed that I make increases and decreases in the same amount and in the same rows. So, I usually finish the both…

Pros
  • Pack of 9 mats ensures you have enough space for larger projects
Cons
  • May not be suitable for those with latex allergies

Love my blocking mats.

Easy to use. Nice bag for storage with plenty of T-pins. I love the fact I can set it on end in another room instead of laying it flat on a table or counter since I live in a very small cottage. I would buy again, and am thinking about getting another one in the future so I have a larger blocking area.

Pros
  • Excellent quality mats, pins and storage bag! Will last for many years. Very pleased with this purchase.
Cons
  • Mats may curl up and become unusable over time

Thicker than expected, pins are terrible

I've never used anything like this. I'm so happy to have discovered an easy way to block knitted items. The pads are thick and soft. Easy to put together. My only complaint is the pins are terrible. Maybe half have rough ends and pull the yarn. I am replacing the pins. I am buying more of these pads. 1 set is not enough to do a sweater.

Pros
  • ASSEMBLE INTO MANY DIFFERENT SIZES AND SHAPES. Each interlocking foam board is easy to link in every direction like a puzzle mat and stays firmly in place. This allows you to create any layout for your project.
Cons
  • May not work well for delicate or fragile projects

I Love These Blocks!

I looked at several choices for blocking mats and was apprehensive because of the reports of a bad odor. I actually contacted this company to ask what I could expect from their product. They said that odors could be picked up in shipping but I shouldn't have a problem. They also wanted to know right away if I did. So I ordered two sets. There was a very slight but not unpleasant smell of the case they come in but after airing it all out over night, the smell was completely gone. These mats are…

Pros
  • Lightweight and easy to transport for on-the-go crafting
Cons
  • May not be compatible with all blocking methods

So glad I bought them

I tried DIY styles of blocking my knits and didn't enjoy the process. I spent the money and I am so thrilled with the convenience and ease. They are well worth the expense and so easy to use. I recommend these to anyone that needs to block knitting.Ruth

Pros
  • No
Cons
  • Mats may warp or bow over time

Practical and convenient

I should have bought these years ago for all of my knitting projects. It would have made blocking so much easier! Definitely recommend these.

Pros
  • KIQ-MTS-9-PRM
Cons
  • Some users may find the gridded pattern difficult to see

Convienient and well made

I really like that these came in their own zip container and they are very easy to use, interconnect nicely, and hold up well under a lot of use.

Pros
  • Very sturdy and works great for my crotchet/ knit items.
Cons
  • Mats may wear out quickly with heavy use

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Exactly as promised

These mats are practical. Sturdy enough to move from place to place with sweater drying on it. It assembles with little effort, no need for a numbering system. Grid marks are accurate from mat to mat.

Pros
  • Comes with a quality needlework or crochet bag for easy storage
Cons
  • Gridlines may be too narrow for some users’ preferences

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Easy to snap in place

This product is sturdy and well made. I used it to block my afghan. I really should have bought a third set. I blocked one side of the Afghan and then after it was dry, I blocked the other side. Simpler to have done it all at one time. Will buy another set, soon. Perfect for what I needed.

Pros
  • Mats can be easily cleaned with a damp cloth
Cons
  • T-pins may be difficult to see on the gridded surface

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Works well - but smells.

It gives off a chemical smell for several days - otherwise it's a nice product. Really like the plastic zipper case for storing.

Pros
  • Helps to produce straight and even stitches
Cons
  • May be too heavy for some users to transport
