I'm here to make someone's life easier after they changed the filter on this thing and the fog stops / the machine makes an annoying high pitched noise. I had this humidifier for about a year and liked it and then I went to change the filter and everything went to hell. I ordered the exact same filter from this manufacturer, disassembled the humidifier, replaced the filter and the machine barely emitted the mist and made this very annoying high pitched noise. I was so angry. After watching many videos on YouTube, I found out my problem. There is a small spring that goes down the long tube where the filter goes in. I had the spring but when disassembling the humidifier I must have forgotten where it was supposed to be so I sent the spring back. at the top of the pipe, above the filter. This led to the problem of no fog/sound. I put a spring at the bottom of the tube, put a filter on top (making sure the filter was pre-saturated for a certain amount of time) and twisted it to the closed position. The problem is solved. Sorry for repeating myself, but while ONE person like me would benefit from this decision, I'd like to spare someone the frustration I felt. As a further note, I asked the seller for help and he was very slow/unhelpful in responding. They asked if I had lost the quill without telling me where to go. So not very good customer service. But now that I've got my car fixed I'm very happy with the product and will continue to use it!
