I bought 45 mangoes and they are already ripe and I dehydrate some of them and I make a fruit peel that also fits in the dehydrator. I tried a fruit bowl. Edible sunburst. I like it. I use a lot less food. If I buy too many jalapenos or peppers, or get a big box of rum tomatoes in my chalkboard box, I don't let them go to waste. I prepare them quickly and dehydrate them for later use. Think: sun-dried tomatoes with no sun and with tomatoes that would have gone bad if I hadn't repaired and dried them right away. As for this particular dehydrator, I wouldn't choose a better one. This dehydrator is made entirely of stainless steel. All 10 trays are also made of stainless steel. This child stays for life. It made the way America once made devices to last almost forever. My advice is pay more this time and get the best. You will not regret it. And I'm a real cheapskate, so I almost never pay more to get the most expensive. But sometimes it's worth putting in a little more.
