Review on πŸš— SCOSCHE Black MagicMount Pro Extendo Magnetic Suction Cup Vehicle Mount by David Everett

Another great magnetic mount from Scoshe

I have used Scoshe's old magnetic mounts with success but I liked that this one has a swiveling head and a stronger magnet for larger phones. It was packaged very nicely and everything looked very good. The clamping nut feels like hard plastic with a soft rubber coating, but pulls well and securely. I appreciate having two bezels and while the silver is nice, I prefer the subtlety of the black. I'm tired of using sticky products on my dashboard and while you can see it actually fits in a DIN tray, I chose to mount it on the passenger side driver's side dashboard. Also, putting it in a tray would have blocked most of my main unit, so I didn't want to block it. Everything went well, but despite the pliable parts of the mount, my first try didn't go the way I'd like. hoped. Because of the curves in the dashboard, some of the glue didn't stick well. Since I wiped the dashboard well with the alcohol pad that came with it, the adhesive came off without much trouble and I reapplied it in a better position. It holds up well in its new position and I don't mind taking it off and putting it back on once. I have found that due to the position of the mount there is less stress on the adhesive when the phone is removed from the mount from the bottom up rather than side to side. I expect people will see similar results depending on how and where they mount it. While I still trust the glue I don't want to overuse the glue so I would caution against using it carelessly if it's been out in the hot sun for a while. the rubber used collected a lot of dust and lint and looked dirty. Since this mount comes with two detachable bezels, I cut a small piece of microfiber cloth and placed it under the bezel. In my opinion, microfiber looks cleaner and nicer, and you can see that for yourself in the photos I've posted. The only caveat is that if you're using a magnetic plate under a case, the fabric might be too smooth to hold the phone well. For my phone with a plate on the outside, it holds up great and is actually easier to convert to landscape without removing it from the mount. I like the mount but have a hard time seeing double the value compared to the standard Scoshe mount at around $14. It's still a great mount that does what it's designed to do, but what I really liked about the original mounts is that they were reasonably priced for a great mount. At least it stays firmly on my dash and phone, and I appreciate the bonus of the detachable faceplate, as well as the functional ball joint that allows for great positioning and holds very well. I docked a star for the price alone, but if the price doesn't bother you at all then consider this a 5 star mount and I highly recommend it.
