It has a very fine texture, but if you're looking for something natural that's almost white and just as unlikely to affect the pH or hardness of the water in your aquarium, choose ReeFlowers Natural AquaSand. It's slightly lighter than granulated pure cane sugar and I would NOT recommend playing with random white craft sand and a substrate made specifically for reptiles. Just don't confuse ReeFlowers Pearl White Sand with Natural AquaSand unless you really like it.
