Quality Control Issues

I purchased this tester for home brewing at Cal's recommendation from The Electric Brewery. This meter is on the pricier side of pocket pH meters so I was expecting a quality product. First, let me point out that I have always stored this meter with the lid closed, filled with pH meter storage solution, indoors in a temperature-controlled room. I have only used the meter with liquids below 140* as recommended. I have never dropped or mishandled this meter. I also recalibrate this meter with pH 4.01 and 7.01 solutions before each use. Within 8 months of purchasing the pH meter, the readings began to fluctuate randomly with large errors (3.45 pH, then a few seconds later 6.2 pH, etc.). When I contacted support they basically helped me by sending me a new sensor (which didn't fix the problem) and then asked me to send them the entire meter for warranty service at my expense. Pretty annoying, but at least they fixed the problem. Now, about 10 months after the last rupture, it ruptured again in a different way and is now steadily raising the pH of things like tap water to 2pH above normal. within a minute. I contacted support and they told me that my warranty is only 1 year (remember the meter has never run 1 year in a row) and that I would need to buy a new sensor for the meter. Of course there is no guarantee that this will solve the problem, it didn't happen last time. If the counter works, it works fine. The readings are accurate and the meter is relatively easy to use. But in my experience and that of a few other Revain reviews, they seem to have serious quality control issues that they don't stand behind. I would avoid this meter if I were you.
