I've only used it 3 or 4 times so far. My goal in purchasing this device was to ensure that the pH of the wort in my mash tun stays at 5.4. It takes a few seconds to get the final reading, which I wasn't expecting, but I've never used a device like this, so I don't have a basis for comparison. All pH meters may have a response delay. I used HI 98121 and now HI 98128. The 98121 I bought was very slow. It wasn't until I bought and started using the 98128 that I realized just how fast it had to be. The two big downsides to Hanna are that their support team won't necessarily give you the right answer to every question, and the fact that the design of the cap makes it very difficult to keep the pH probe wet all the time . I purchased this tester for home brewing at Cal's recommendation from The Electric Brewery. This meter is on the pricier side of pocket pH meters so I was expecting a quality product. First, let me point out that I have always stored this meter with the lid closed, filled with pH meter storage solution, indoors in a temperature-controlled room.
