Only one drip of coolant required for measurement. Dropper is supplied with the Refractometer. I checked calibration by mixing four solutions; 100%, 60%, 40% and 0%, RO Water/Polyethylene Glycol. Measurements with the Reflectometer were spot on. I recommend this product.

I bought this to measure the propylene glycol (low toxicity) antifreeze I use in a 30’s Chevy pickup. It’s extremely well-made, the instructions are clear, it’s easy to use and is reliably accurate. Comes in a nice protective case. I’d previously tried the floating ball type checkers but they don’t work reliably with propylene glycol.

Was changing over from conventional green coolant in my diesel motorhome to the newer OAT coolant and this worked perfect to determine the percentage as well as the freeze point.

I first checked the zero with distilled water and it showed to be right on zero. Then I mixed a 50-50 mixture of coolant with distilled water and tested that. It showed 52%. Close enough.

Tested antifreeze strength in both of my cars, and adjusted the mixture as necessary. Nice to have when performing coolant system maintenance.

I ordered this to check dilution levels of glycol in draft beer systems. It works well for this. It arrived quickly. Requires a light source for accurate readings.

The product is fine. I was surprised that it didn't break when the Ebay delivery person tossed it on the driveway, causing the case to open inside the unpadded wrapping.

It's really odd but the case for the unit won't close. it showed up like that. It's not super expensive. but it would be nice to close the case and protect the meter.

Refraction meter works great! I had a vehicle that used a dip stick to measure the quantity of coolant for the engine, therefore only a drop was available for measuring the concentration. Very pleased. Checked calibration with water and was at 32 F so would have been ok to use right from factory. Like that it has a scale for both ethylene and propylene glycol as I have a number or different coolants to check. Easy to use. Comes with everything you need stored in a nice little case.

I don’t know much about how refractors works but I changed coolant on 2 of our vehicles myself and during the process I flushed many times first with distilled water. When I added concentrated coolant I was concerned about making sure I had correct protection for the engine. I tested quickly with this refractor and it indicated I had adequate mixture. I then would test it with only water and it would calibrate down to 32 degrees as freeze point. I’m hopeful this is accurate but it seems very…

First time I have ever used one of these. Simple to use and provides details of coolant mix when changing coolant. The storage case with tool/dropper included is great for storing/using in your tool box.

Came out of the box accurate, tested with distilled. Measure my radiator fluid and it was about where I thought it was 56%. Like how I can tune that to 50%. Almost there and this tool makes it easy.

Maybe it is not the best accuracy but had helped to have a good reading of my samples; easy to use and cheap. May require additional training for proper use!
