I bought so I could attach the strap to a leather clutch I made. I attached the grommets to the side of the bag before realizing I couldn't attach the strap through the grommet without getting in the way of the flap. Eventually I found a ball stud with a screw head that didn't fit through the hub hole. This gave me the option to attach the band with a lobster clasp. The ball is very well made and looks great. There's even a small screwdriver that's actually too small for the screw head, but it's a good thing it came with it. I used a coin to tighten the ball rivet.
