The first thing you need to know is that this item IS NOT SECURE. As the name of this item suggests, it is a "fireproof waterproof box" that is simply designed with a key locking system to open and close. However, this thing is HEAVY for its size, probably due to the thickness of the walls. If you believe the company's information, you get reliable weather protection for a considerable period of time. It's really questionable whether the box closes tight enough to offer any real protection from the elements. After a few uses, the latch locked and then just wouldn't open using my ridiculously simple, flimsy keys. I ended up breaking one of the keys in the lock, and then it only took a clumsy shove with a crowbar to open the box. Two seconds maximum. I looked inside, at the locking mechanism, and was shocked at how rare and intangible the components of that mechanism are. Apparently the company only installed the key locking system to prevent accidental opening of the crate, NOT to protect the crate from theft. So no theft protection and questionable fire/water protection. It's a heavy metal box with an unreliable lock. A star is generous.
