Review on HTTMT ET006- Motorcycle Foam Anti Vibration Comfort Handlebar Grip Cover | Harley BMW Compatible by Jeff Olson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Sit well, use lots of liquid dish soap

I expected very little for the price. However, I am impressed regardless of the price. The thicker handles take a little getting used to, but I've gotten used to it. YMMV if you have small hands or like small bars. The foam dampens vibrations a bit, which I don't want on the VFR, but I'll probably appreciate them if I'm buying a kit for a Buell Thunderbolt (Harley in a Sport Tourer). One of my bikes had heated tires. Handles that slowly turned to a pulp - after almost 10 years of use and exposure to ultraviolet light, this is not surprising. I decided to try these grip covers as a temporary measure to find a good time to install the new heated grips. While I can order a set of heated grips to keep them idling, I don't think I'll be replacing them any time soon. These grip covers have completely covered those sticky, crumbling grips and they look as good as they feel. The heating works fine. It only takes about a minute to reach similar levels. Installation was easy: 1.) Coat the outside of the existing grips with plenty of dish soap, 2.) Coat the inside of these grip caps with it, 3.) Place the grip caps on the grips, 4.) Wipe up any spilled dish soap and wait for the rest of the product has dried. I slid them right onto the weights at the ends of the bars (the Throttlemeister cone may have helped increase the grip cap to the grip diameter) and they slipped fairly easily for the first half. The force increases as you put more of the grip cap on the grip (because: friction) and some Dawn dishwashing liquid got on the outside of the grip, so I had a rag on hand to wrap the grip cap for better grip, when i slipped it completely. I don't think you can really use too much Dawn, and it costs pennies an ounce, so I went crazy for it. I cleaned a little more than I probably needed to do, but it helped with the friction. .* The grip pads were about 3/4" longer than the grip pads, but I liked the beveled edges on both ends of the grip pads, so I pushed them in too far and then smoothed them out again by squeezing the outer end of the grip Shop tabs wrapped around them and stretched to size They have enough "flex" to accommodate different diameters and lengths I like them and will buy several different kits for other scooters.

Pros
  • These grip pads improve rider comfort by significantly reducing vibration while increasing the thickness of standard grips.
Cons
  • Can't remember
