Review on Benriner Mandoline Slicer Japanese Stainless by Alison Jackson

My rating has nothing to do with the nature of the product. I have never used it. I ordered a jumbo slicer, model BN-120. I was expecting it to have extra blades for cutting vegetables with matchsticks. But Jumbo only comes with a regular cutting blade. I was confused by other models and photos showing multiple blades. It was only after receiving the item that I went back to the description and found that the extra blades are not included with the jumbo model. Again, the jumbo model only slices and cannot cut veggies into sticks or chopsticks. Although I have never used this product I was surprised to see that the tabs on the bottom of the food holder are plastic (like the holder itself). Most food coasters I've seen have metal pins that hold the food in place. Again, I have never attempted to use the product. Maybe the plastic pins aren't the problem. To adjust the thickness, turn the knob on the bottom of the slicer to the desired thickness. In this case you have to press on the platform. Otherwise the platform will not move by itself (this is indicated in the instructions). There is no "click", mark or other thickness reference when turning the thickness knob. Therefore, determining the correct thickness is a matter of trial and error. In general, I will look for something else. It seems that Benriner does not offer different types of knives for the Jumbo model. And I want something that juliennes/matches.
