As a freelance writer, I come across many reasons to use dictaphones. I've been using db9Pro recorders for two years now. Then they released a NEW 8GB Dictaphone with a few bells and whistles and the same low price? I had to check it out. The sound recorded was superior to another branded unit I bought for four times the price. What I like about the new digital voice recorder: durable. When it arrives, the first thing that strikes me is the weight. It is heavier than their other simplified recorders. (It's even heavier than my more expensive one, which I don't use anymore.) Backlight. During charging, you can see the battery indicator bar, the screen lights up. Easy to use. The window is very small, but since it's lit, I can read it easily. Turns off after about 20 seconds. Once you become familiar with your car, navigating becomes a breeze. During recording, the small indicator in the upper right corner changes color from white to red. This is helpful for me. The screen backlight turns off after a few seconds to save power. Less body friction. If you handle the case in record mode you will hear it, but not to the same extent and volume as other models. It usually sounds like loud scratching and can be annoying, but not so much with this device. Excellent speakers. At the same time, the device recorded every word, even whispered ones. The device's playback speakers are also very clear. MP3 player. I heard birds chirping and running water. The sound is incredibly clear, but to hear it even better, in-ear headphones are included, or you can use your own earbuds or headphones. If you have more than 8 GB of storage space, you can use a microchip. Control Buttons: These controls are a decent size and space in between. Accessories: A set of ear tips and a charging/downloading cable, all fit in a standard glasses case (not included). Operation manual. Almost 20 pages of clear instructions to get acquainted with the device (be sure to read it!) plus a warranty card. I always turn it on because most of us understand that electronics can be fickle. Since they're releasing it, I'll be sure to sign up. (FYI: They've never abused my email with a bunch of spam info.) Sturdy cardboard box for storage. Excellent price. What I don't like: I don't like referring to the book for the initials that appear on screen. . This means that I have to carry the booklet with me whenever I'm going to use the device. But this one is a lot less complicated than the ones I've used. Best suggestions and ideas: Familiarize yourself with your device's function keys. I accidentally turned off the device before saving because the buttons look the same in low light and I forgot which side of the device the saved is on. (Right of the screen.) And it wasn't saved. You really meant that line, save first and not shut down to save. If you uncheck it incorrectly, your audio file will also appear as recorded, but will be empty. Of course it can be an advantage to have a backup device (I have 2 backups), you will definitely get a good record. In their very helpful and informative brochure, they warn against typing near other electronic devices (especially phones). To avoid interference, I keep mine far away from recording equipment. But after recording I never lost data because the phone was in the same compartment as the recording device, although I try to keep them separate as a precaution. Microchip connector for maximum memory expansion. I suggest buying a device designed to record audio (as opposed to storing the date or photos) to preserve sound quality. It seemed easiest to me to download the chip from a computer and then install it in the device. The device charges very quickly, less than an hour. Mine went from empty to fully charged and when there was battery activity on interest accumulation I missed it. Everything I needed to know was in the book. For those of you who use this to record important information that you don't want to lose, I suggest getting a few of these. My interested customer had the device in hand when I asked her how much she thought it cost. Her first estimate was $100. She turned to see the true price. (Under $30!) I suggest you buy a few before they realize their true value!
