Review on Beyerdynamic DT 990 PRO Open Studio Headphones - High-Quality Sound for Professionals by Jongil Baek ᠌

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Not a bad product, nothing extraordinary.

Buying an amplifier for them is the same as repainting a nag. All magical passes with warming up the headphones (with plastic membranes and copper wires) warm up only the placebo. The sound on these headphones may change if they are only heated in the microwave. The headphones are quiet, so they definitely won’t be able to stun, but they can lead to ear cancer. DT990 Pro - "clean ears" for those who drilled a hole in the Elektronika 302 tape recorder in the 80x, to twist the head, under each cassette and hear the cherished "ZY! - ZY!". The main criterion for sound quality. By the way, I have something to compare Fostex T50RP MK2 and Sennheiser HD 600 with at home. I have been using the T50RP for ten years now. Everything would be good in them, but not ergonomics. After "tuning", you can make it more comfortable, but still heavy. I recommend listening to Fostex T50RP for those who work with sound. And especially for those who need the most difficult - the middle. I master voices in films, of course, there are also monitors. And the HD600 is like a Christmas tree or like coloring movies. The sound is heavily embellished, but done with talent. Of course, they are not suitable for work. I did not understand the purpose of the Beyerdynamic DT990 Pro. Any music in them does not sound beautiful, but they are definitely not suitable for mastering. For those who still fell for provocations and bought these headphones for work, try the Equalizer APO software equalizer or another. Of course, it won’t save you from sibilants drilling your ears, but you can do it a little . a little bit.

Pros
  • Weight, open type and price.
Cons
  • Even at the frequency response, Mid-Mid and High Mid failed and Mid-Treble was turned up with a difference of 10dB (!). From which the sibilants on the vocals simply explode the brain. For any genre! Headphones are definitely not for vocals. Jazz cymbals sound like alien bugs, rock cymbals sound like packets rustling in the wind. Stringed plucked instruments are not natural. Simple clapping or applause sounds like pouring sand on glass. Promised and fashionable now "detail" only in those aspects where the soloist, sucking in air, cleans his teeth from the remnants of food. Stereo base - outside the "square" from which any live performance is absolutely not natural. At a low volume, there is no question of the middle at all, the level of a Chinese computer headset. My small ears fit completely in the ear cups, but my head size is 59.5cm. From which the headphones are very pressured, especially under the ears. You can slightly bend the iron darlings, but the sound changes even from a few millimeters from the ear. A tightly attached cable makes it impossible to experiment and easy to replace.

Its pros: The sound is top notch. Compared with senheisers hd380 pro and hd598 - senshi just rest in sound, buyers are in a different league altogether. hand assembled, made in germany. Cons: The highs are a little high, a little EQ correction is needed. The voice is not entirely believable. These are just quibbles. For this price, there is nothing better.

Pros below: Clear sound (due to 250 ohm impedance) Reliable, I don't know. Very well put together Very comfortable on the head, soft. Nothing pushes anywhere Has cons: Due to the high impedance, you may need to buy an amplifier. I did not have to do this, because I have a normal motherboard And. virtually no soundproofing. That's all the cons

I recommend this model to people who have a room with soundproofing
