Review on Beyerdynamic DT 990 PRO Open Studio Headphones - High-Quality Sound for Professionals by Md Aadam Ali ᠌

Revainrating 4 out of 5

The product is okay, it's not a waste of money!

They were taken, by and large, for testing: the model is very famous, although the reviews are contradictory, at times. It was planned to be used in tandem with Lehmann Audio BCL amplifier (clone) or Topping DX7s, players. If I liked it, I would take one for myself. The farm has already been visited by "fosteks" TH-500RP, which categorically did not suit Axelvox HD242 / Superlux HD-668B, which they seemed to like, but did not look like a gift option, but as a gift I would like something more impressive rootless "Chinese ". Out of the box, connected to the xDuoo X20, I was immediately struck by very strange sound distortions - sensations of "compression" and "stretching" of different parts of the range. In addition, the bottoms at the same time were quantitatively hypertrophied, the middle - failed, from the highs - one increased "poking". The sound was like from a barrel - booming and deaf. Things weren't any better on a stationary amp, and the headphones were put under continuous "white noise" playback for a week at slightly above average volume. After a week of "warming up", the sound leveled off significantly - the humming bass and tsikka that dominated everything left, the middle became audible. In general, it has been good. Favorite tracks began to sound recognizable and with all the nuances. However, the sound is somewhat muffled, flattened, there is no "openness" (which is surprising, given the design) and a sense of detail, as is the case with "axelvoxes". Perhaps the sound may change a little more if you continue to torment the headphones, but the “axels” / “superluxes” play better even out of the box, and the “experienced” ones play even better, with more drive, better detail and playback quality of the entire range. However, I can recommend these headphones to those who want decently built, great-looking "branded" headphones with good sound and at a price even under $200. (if you search). I can only emphasize that "fresh" they are unpleasantly surprising, but be patient and put them aside for a while under load and the sound will change dramatically for the better.

Pros
  • They look solid. Brand. Good build quality. Ease of wearing. Good sound. Reasonable price for the combination of qualities.
Cons
  • Sound from the box. Sound in general, even after "warming up". Removable cable.

Great headphones for both working with sound and just listening to music or watching movies.

Overall, very happy with the purchase. I use it with an external sound card.

Got pros: Great sound, quality materials and the best ergonomics of all the headphones I've tried (that's about 10). The price is slightly lower than other stores. Its cons: There is only one drawback, the headphones were opened before me. There are 3 visible scratches on the top of the box.

Different pros: high quality sound, these are my first closed headphones so I can not compare them with others Got cons: it is interesting that I also have a bounce in my left ear at low frequencies, as the previous author writes

Very happy with the purchase if you write EDM music and not only. Do not lose in the choice

If not for the rattle in the left ear, there would be a solid five.

After them, I don’t want to switch to any other headphones

Known reference monitor ears. World standard. For bedroom production - top in terms of price / quality
