This laptop stand is made of high quality aluminum which is quite rigid and can support up to 44 pounds. I don't think my HP Specter laptop will ever break. What I like about the stand is that it has many vents in the base that allow for significant airflow to dissipate heat and cool the machine. The HP has air vents and a small fan to keep the computer cool. However, if you place it on a flat surface, there isn't much room for airflow to keep the machine cool. This stand allows you to raise the base about 1.5 to 9 inches from the surface. The screen is obviously higher so you can watch it while standing, maybe reading a book or cooking recipes. At lower levels, the base is adjustable to make the typing angle more comfortable. My laptop feels very secure on this stand and allowed my HP to run cooler but gave me a more comfortable position to spend time on a good stand. Overall good product. I will buy more or donate.
