If you have a Fluval filter you must (MUST) have it in reserve. This will seal the filter to prevent leaks. My local fish shop doesn't have them, so I figured I'd better buy a few in case they run out. Sooner or later it will start leaking. Opening the filter for maintenance will cause the o-ring to wear out over time. If so, you should be able to replace it locally. If you wait and need it and it's not there, your fish will suffer. Ordering this before it starts leaking will prevent this. Do something good for yourself and your fish and have them ready at all times. Cheap insurance against leaks.
