Warning this was leaked on my 406

. I thought it was 406 compatible but when I used it my filter leaked when I moved it. I've never had this problem with the seals that come with the 3/406 service kits. I was lucky because I had a spare and I changed it and there was no leak. I looked at this one and no cracks no issues but maybe a slightly different size?

Pros
  • . Certified
Cons
  • . Not trendy

I was so excited to get them (2). Immediately replaced my old o-rings on my 2 canisters. The disappointment was not long in coming and 2 canisters ran out again. I was so upset that I bought 2 new canisters from a different brand. Now I have 2 working and non-leaking canisters. Maybe my 2 other canisters were too old and had to go.

Pros
  • handy thing
Cons
  • The list is long.

Works great no leaks

I ordered this for some flow filters for my turtle tank that I got years ago and have just tried. The first night I ran the filter across the floor twice before I gave up and turned it off. I ordered this gasket hoping it would fix the problem as the old one seemed dry and it definitely helped! It was already oiled so it didn't dry out, I just rinsed it really well and put it in and after 2 months the filter is still running 24/7 and doesn't overflow.

Pros
  • Excellent construction
Cons
  • Some difficulties

Must have in reserve

If you have a Fluval filter you must (MUST) have it in reserve. This will seal the filter to prevent leaks. My local fish shop doesn't have them, so I figured I'd better buy a few in case they run out. Sooner or later it will start leaking. Opening the filter for maintenance will cause the o-ring to wear out over time. If so, you should be able to replace it locally. If you wait and need it and it's not there, your fish will suffer. Ordering this before it starts leaking will prevent this. Do…

This is a seal. Good quality!

Nothing to say. This is a seal. My original lasted over 5 years. I'm only replacing it now because I can see some small cracks in it and it might last a while longer but I don't risk it leaking. I will buy a backup for my 305 and 405 as soon as I can. This may sound silly, but when I was an assistant plumber, he taught me a trick when it comes to anything with O-rings. He kept the tuner KI Kelly in his box of O-rings and lubricated them before repairing faucet valves or other rubber parts. And…

Pros
  • Robust design
Cons
  • Definitely bad product

it was still leaking but not as much as before

I'm only giving 4 stars because it didn't stop the leak right away. My Fluval was about 10 years old. After I cleaned my filter I put them back together and it kept dripping from the gasket. I thought it must be a rubber ring that has aged and become brittle. After reading the reviews on Revain I decided that the oil seal was the cause of the leak. So with the new gasket it was still leaking but not as badly as before. So I decided to take a chance and put both tubes in a canister. Of course…

Pros
  • Pretty packaging

  • I don't remember
