Review on Attwood Pound Navy Anchor: Reliable and Heavy-Duty Marine Anchoring Solution by Chris Goldsby

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Pretty cool for such a compact anchor.

Nice and compact, that's a plus. Probably great for mud and silt. Easy to remove due to its design. Fits nicely in our pontoon boat under the seat which is why we bought it. The standard Danforth is too long and wide at 22 pounds and really annoying and awkward to leave on the boat deck. The downside is that it doesn't hold up in the sand as well as the Danforth's thin rear end. Therefore 4 stars. Also, we use it in salt water with sandy bottom. Rust is already visible on the shiny aluminum finish because the salt has eaten it away. But that's to be expected. I will paint annually with cold galvanizing paint. If you are in fresh water this should be a very steep anchor. Our pontoon is 24 feet long and that is not a problem. We have an 8 foot 3/8 inch lead chain and a swivel on our anchor line.
