I have used them to make family jewelry. The surface is really smooth which makes applying vinyl letters very easy. The pieces are very light and come with a piece of string that can be tied to a hanger for any decoration. Only part of the pile was slightly torn on the back, but this did not affect the front (two coats). would recommend.
