ADA recommends a pole length of at least 36 inches behind the toilet. I chose Moen for the brushed nickel finish, quality and style. It has an excellent build quality! Strong and durable but not too heavy The hardest part about installing a handrail is you NEED, NEED, NEED to screw it into the stud. Drywall anchors just won't cut it if people pull on them all day in a public restroom (or even at home)! So if you have 16" cleats, it can be tricky with a 36" shank. However, the mounting plate has a lot of holes and includes heavy bolts and washers! Moen recommends that you drive at least 3 screws into the stud and they include all the hardware to make this possible. Hope that helps! -b.
