Okay I'll break it down into a few categories: Privacy I bought this mainly for my privacy as I live in a high traffic area and don't like people looking out my windows. Works great day and night. I wouldn't recommend relying solely on this film if you want complete privacy, but it improves LOTS. I've attached a photo of the outside of my house looking at the night; one window with foil and one without. Aesthetics Gorgeous and classic. landlord approved. He was skeptical that it would look garish and wanted me to buy blackout curtains instead, but I insisted we try and he was pleasantly surprised. Installation Okay, that was tricky. But in the end I made all the windows myself a few weeks ago and they're still standing! My advice: measure about 1 inch outside the edge of your window, cut it out. Then remove about 5 inches of the backing and fold it so that it forms a straight line that is perpendicular to the direction you are hanging the foil. I started at the top of the window and worked my way down. Flatten the top 5 inches of film onto the window and gently pull the backing straight down, keeping your hand as close to the window as possible. While pulling the backing with one hand, smooth the film against the window with the other. Then take a razor blade to trim off any excess and around any curves (I have alarms with window sensors so I had to trim them off). Tip: If you find you've cut off a piece that's too small, you can easily attach another piece to the breakage. But EVEN IF THEY MATCH THE PATTERN, THERE WILL BE A "LINE" where the two pieces meet because the edge of the film acts like a fiber optic and reflects light. It's barely noticeable from more than two feet away, and I personally don't care about those things. But if you think you need to cut a piece several times to fit the window, be careful there are lines, is it better to use a continuous piece, suitable for renting? Yes. 100%. If you wanted it would take you 1 second to remove the whole film. Durability. I've had the foil for several weeks now, nothing is peeling off the panes and doesn't bubble. If you wash the windows thoroughly before applying the film, I don't think this will be a problem. Light Don't use this if you want to block light. It INCREASES the light which I personally wanted for my dark room. It casts a beautiful prism on the walls, I would 100% buy it again.
