It isolates and protects the territory. In my experience they are more flexible than traditional bandages. It says it's "breathable," which in my personal experience helps with healing. You should change your bandage as recommended by your doctor. Don't just put it on the sore and leave it. The adhesive can and will irritate and even remove skin if you are too aggressive in removing it. MAKE SURE THE AFFECTED AREA IS COVERED WITH SOMETHING OTHER THAN THIS DRESSING! Gauze, triple antibiotic, anything! It can and will stick to your wound, heal skin, scabs etc and it will remove them if you are not careful when removing the bandage! The glue works really well but doesn't stick to the triple antibiotic I used. It's more comfortable and flexible than a traditional bandage and best of all, it's almost invisible to others. I have used it on my arm at the elbow and it flexes very well and usually stays in the shower. Again, I cannot stress enough that you should change your bandage regularly as directed by your doctor. Simply applying this bandage to an open wound and leaving it there will lead to infection like any other bandage.
