Review on Solar Driveway Alarm System - 1/4 Mile Transmission Range - Solar Powered, No Battery Replacement - Outdoor Weatherproof Motion Sensor & Detector DIY Security Alert - 1 Receiver, 2 Sensors Kit by Richard Payne

Revainrating 4 out of 5

The receiver plugs directly into an outlet; no cord

Received yesterday, a day earlier than advertised (yes, Revain!). Setting up today was pretty easy. The videos on UTube are more helpful than the guides, but some things were trial and error because they weren't covered there or there (it wasn't clear where to change the beep, but somehow my husband changed it ). picking up the phone after the sensors were already in the trees). He's even less electronic than me, so it was pure coincidence. Overall it seems to work very well (we live in the country and it's nice to know when someone is walking down the driveway). My only issue (and reason for the 4 stars) is that the receiver itself plugs into an outlet and doesn't have a cord. I don't know of any other than my outlets above the countertop in the kitchen and bathroom, my outlets are about a foot off the floor. Who likes to put a pipe on the floor, where furniture is most likely to be, so that you can't even see it? Yes, you can hear it, but since they took care to put numbered lights on it, you might as well put it in a spot where you can see it well. A video on UTube shows how to set them up with a multi-outlet power strip, but I don't want it in plain sight. Mine is currently connected to an extension cord and I'm trying to figure out something to mount it upright so I can see the display. I read a lot of reviews before buying it and I don't remember anyone mentioning it, but it might have influenced my choice. I would prefer a receiver with a plug-in cable so that it can easily be mounted on a table or in a window.

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging
