Mini Schnauzer Barking Collar

I have a Mini Schnauzer who is a drama queen. She also has something to say about everything. During the day, we can handle her soft singing (and counter-speech), but when she hears the doorbell, she goes into high-pitched barking mode and can break the glass. The first time we put a collar on her and she heard the first warning signal, she ran away and hid under the covers. She was depressed for the rest of the day. This dog's "grandmother" (another drama queen) complained that I "broke her heart" by forcing our dog to carry her. After hours of watching my dog, I gave up and took off the damn collar. Two days later I decided to try again after experiencing another doorbell incident. Again, the first sound of warning scared her to death and she ran to hide, followed by hours of moping. I was guilty of removing the collar and wanted to return it. But a few days later, the doorbell rang and she freaked out. I scolded her and told her to stop barking or she would get a beep. When she kept barking, I decided to press the power button on the collar that was on the counter a few feet away. She heard that, stopped barking and ran into the bedroom. Now that she's barking, all we have to do is tell her to stop or she'll hear a "beep" and stop barking right away. Although she's not actually wearing a collar like she's supposed to be, it totally works! The beep is the bomb!
