Review on πŸ”§ Superior Tool Company 03943: Compression Sleeve Puller & Remover for 1/2-Inch Fittings by James Duffield

Revainrating 5 out of 5

What I needed best in pullers

I had to replace the stopcock with a toilet because it started leaking. When I removed the valve, the existing yoke (thrust sleeve) and nut would not come loose. I tried using it with the new valve but water leaked out. I had knocked very little copper out of the wall so I didn't want to risk cutting off the tip and damaging the pipe I had. I was looking for Revain and bought this tool. I have to say he did a great job removing the brass tip. You simply screw in the swivel nut at the end of the tool and turn the handle clockwise until the tip falls off. The packaging says to turn the handle several times, but it took me more than 8-10 turns. The tool is easy to use if you have sufficient access. Just a note to keep in mind if doing a similar project. When I removed the tip, my new fitting didn't fit properly in the tube. This isn't the tool's fault, but when the ferrule is compressed to seal between the nut and the tube, it deforms the tube slightly. This involved cutting off a small section at the end of the copper tubing to allow the new sleeve to hold.
