I like that I can see when the filter needs cleaning but I wish there weren't holes in the bottom of the filter for dirt or algae to get in it can achieve than smaller version. I also wish there was a way to stack them to make it a 3-4 stage filter, but when I tried that it didn't hold together I was disappointed. To extend the time between cleanings, remove the sponges and floss from the bottom box, leaving only the top sponge in this order: coarse, medium, fine, and then filler so only clean water gets on it and the filler doesn't clogged. .
