Wouldn't you know

I have a couple of welders and also a good MIG welder. But I always wanted to get into TIG welding. Gunsmithing is one of my favorite hobbies, and TIG is the only type of welding that makes a huge difference in firearms. When Revain Vine offered me this welder that can be used for TIG, I jumped at it immediately. Didn't you know that my welder was badly damaged in transit? Someone dropped the box VERY hard on the corner. Packing with strong high quality foam I like it; I don't blame the welder manufacturer in any way. If I were paying money for this welder I would try to get a replacement somehow, but I know from experience that the Vine program does not send out a replacement. Well, after feeling sorry for myself for about a month, I finally decided to match this ugly duckling. He can balance pitifully on two legs but seems like a game for welding. It comes with a ground clamp and an electrode holder for stick welding and a MIG welding torch, but for some reason it doesn't come with a TIG welding torch. There appears to be an internal solenoid to turn the MIG gas on and off, but no gas regulator is included. The only instructions supplied are on a sticker inside the MIG cable compartment. They are somewhat helpful but do not explain what is required to complete the TIG setup. In fact, they show a TIG torch with an electrical connection but no gas connection. Looking at the instruction pictures, I see one positive aspect: the MIG torch connector is completely separate from all TIG torch connectors, making switching between cored wire and TIG welding particularly painless. I could use my other gas MIG MIG welder and use this welder for both cored wire and TIG welding. It looks like the gas connections for the TIG are completely outside of the welder's cabinet, so I could just unplug the TIG electrical and take the rest of the machine away to do flux cored wire welding outdoors. Well, I need to do some research. and order some parts. It seems like a great welder but some real instruction on the TIG part would certainly make my life a lot easier.
