I was looking for the perfect swim shorts to give some coverage to my suit as I'm pear shaped and always have a hard time wearing swim trunks and swim shorts. If you smaller in the waist but larger in the buttocks/thighs/thighs this is PERFECT Not too short not tight hips I usually wear a size 8 or 10 and the large was just right I will be ordering more colors and them as Use running shorts (they fit my body type better than more expensive brands like Athleta).
