I use this blanket to protect the area when welding but I bought this blanket for a different reason. I have an industrial charcoal grill in my kitchen. A charcoal grill is actually the same as an outdoor gas grill. There is a small chance of developing flair on the coals with a brazier, and putting it out is a minor issue. I keep this blanket folded so that it can be quickly pulled out and thrown over the flair. I've been experimenting with this outside by the campfire and it worked beautifully. It saves my fire extinguisher if there's ever a real problem.
