Review on Mobo Total Tot 12-Inch Roll-to-Ride Three Wheeled Cruiser by Darrell Bridges

Revainrating 4 out of 5

good value for money - well made, very secure

Looks like a well made product and my son loves it. I have no complaints about its design. It's very easy to push this thing with the height-adjustable pushbar, although the driver can still steer you into the bushes if they're feeling mischievous and find it funny, although you can always pull down on the handlebars to pry the front wheel off the ground (e.g. like driving over a curb). There are footrests for the kid when pushing because the pedals rotate (not spin freely), but they never hit him on the shin when using the footpegs. I very much doubt he could find a way to reverse this - maybe if I take my child to the top of the hill and push them down, but that's absurd. I think he won't be able to knock it over on a flat surface. This device has no gears or chains to collide with and the direct drive limits its top speed. Since it doesn't spin freely, it will also slow down when it doesn't want to pedal anymore. I think older kids will want a free spinning wheel hub and I believe the larger mobo models have free spinning wheel hubs. For a small child I think this is a good design decision and I'm very happy with it. Despite the safe design, I still force my boy to wear a helmet. I was also enthusiastic about the Bern Unlimited Nino summer helmet with visor, which I also rated 5*. Update two years later: The turnbuckles that align the rear wheels occasionally need to be adjusted. If your child says they are having trouble pedaling, check them out. The rod that allows you to adjust the length of the bike (and the distance to the pedal) broke. There is no easy solution.

Pros
  • Rear wheel steering
Cons
  • Quirks
