I bought it in January and it died without warning in February for no reason. One second of typing, the next second a dead monitor. I purchased a warranty through Revain but when I called them they said it was covered under the manufacturer's warranty. The HP warranty website will take you in circles if you try to click Contact Us to find a phone number. I took out the paper and although the instructions were sent in English, the guarantee paper was in Spanish or Portuguese and the only phone number on the paper was for Brazil. I called Asurion back and they gave me a phone number that actually belongs to HP, but it's a bad phone line with an auto attendant. The menu doesn't list any warranty, but when I said "guarantee" he took my serial number, said he'd put me through to an agent and then disconnected. It happened twice. To be honest it looks like this is either intentional or gross negligence on HP's part in the hope that you will refuse to make a warranty claim. As for how this has worked so far, I'll just leave my initial feedback which I've posted below. I opened the box and connected it to my Asus laptop running Windows 10. I followed the quick installation instructions (pictures, not words) and pressed the "on" button (on the back of the monitor) and everything worked as expected. Then go to "Windows Settings" ("System" - "Display") and choose how to display the monitors. Extended monitors are not used by default in my version of Windows, but I think most people would expect them to be used in extended monitor mode and not duplicate monitor mode. The picture is not clear, but the price was very low. Some other reviewers complained that the cord was too slack. My HDMI cable is very tight, as is the power cord. There are no complaints. I think make sure you have a real HDMI cable and not one that looks like it. Some reviewers said their monitor worked at first but quickly stopped working. My guess is that they fixed the windows settings to ensure the monitor is set to show in extended or duplicated mode and not show at all. I also assume they made sure the power button on the back of the monitor was pressed. If the monitor turns off sooner than expected I will try to update this review. I bought a warranty through Revain in case of problems.
