Thing works great I can finally razor sharp my pocket knife, trim my arm hair sharp. I don't use the included angle guide, I found it easier to just hold the knife at an angle that's comfortable for me. When I first got it I started with the rough stone doing 20 strokes each side of the blade, then went to the medium stone and did 20 strokes each side and finally the Arkansas stone doing 20 strokes each side and then another 20 punches, divided equally between the parties. stroked one side, then the other, the next, she was quite sharp, at this point she was just starting to shave her hair. Now I touch up my blade once a week on an Arkansas stone, just do 20 strokes on each side and then 20 splits, and after the last sharpening my knife came out terribly sharp and shaved my hand clean with very little effort. I've found that applying good pressure when moving the blade across the stone really helps as the instructions say and also remember to always use lube. I've heard this helps prevent the stones from clogging. metal filings.
