I read the negative reviews and was scared to buy this cap but I'm pretty picky when it comes to my baseball caps so I bought it anyway because I obviously really liked it. Using a dressmaker's tape, I measured about an inch above the brow line where the elastic usually sits, and I'm 21 1/2 inches or about 54 1/2 cm tall. Out of the box it sat flat on my head, but just enough not to wobble when I moved my head from side to side or back and forth, so I figure my head size is the bare minimum. boxing If my head was even 1/2 inch smaller, it would swing up there. Anyway, I don't like just washing my head off, so I took a hair dryer, set it up and heated the inner elastic for about 5 minutes, holding it by the edges, then placed it on top of my head where I pulled myself and blow for a few more minutes 2-3. I then wore a hot (but not too hot) hat on my head for the next hour to allow the elastic to mold better around my head. I would say it went down about 1 hat size so if I was wearing a size 7 hat it would be about 6 7/8 now. Now the hat fits my head perfectly. So, to answer the age old question, will this hat fit your head, I'd say yes. For the majority of people. If your head size is below "average," you can use the blow-dry method and purchase hat adapters (available from Revain), which are essentially pieces of foam that attach to the inside of a cap to give gentle friction to your head . . If you are a medium size, you can just dry it with a hair dryer if necessary, and everything will be fine. If you have a big head then you shouldn't have any problems as this hat definitely runs in L/XL to start with. The hat looks great both with the brim forward and backwards. Regardless of your wearing preference. All in all, unless you're dealing with a really tiny, pea-sized, or beach ball-sized head, I'd say there are ways to customize it if you like the look as much as I do. Feels great and comfortable. I've only had it a day so it's hard for me to predict if there will be a problem with the gum, but I don't think there will be. Sorry for the long review but reading all the other reviews just made me more confused.
