Review on ๐ŸŽถ External USB Sound Card - CREATIVE Sound BlasterX G6 by Ha Joon Joon

Revainrating 5 out of 5

One of the best offers, glad I bought it.

1) Volume and settings. After the purchase, at first I was disappointed, because the sound in the game was terrible and the positioning was worse than on the built-in. But, it turned out that in the default settings in the software, for some reason, the sound is 7.1, which mixes all the sounds together, it was necessary to switch to stereo. I used it in games at 60-70% volume in low volume mode (you can switch it to high mode on the case, the volume will double). In total, 30-35% of the maximum volume if switched to high. If it's louder - when shooting in pubg, it hurts your ears from the high frequencies of shooting and you no longer pay attention to other noises. 2) Soft. You will get little besides the equalizer, the rest of the presets are for everyone. Before buying, I had hopes for the possibility of changing the voice through the software (the voice is like that of an elf, grandfather, etc.), but in the end I didnโ€™t like it, because the interlocutors do not understand you well, and the program swallows the endings of your words and phrases (they fade out), in general, without these presets, you can hear much more clearly. 3) Broke. The built-in micro usb cable is as long as a phone charging cable, I didnโ€™t have enough because of the specific location of the system unit on a separate bedside table on the right, so I decided to buy a USB 2.0 extension cable. After connecting through an extension cord, it did not turn on, then it started on and off every 2 seconds, in total it worked. Half a day later, during the game, the headphones hissed and the G6 passed out, no more signs of life. I sent it in for repair under warranty, they took it for a check today. Think about it if you want to use an extension cable (although the mb cable you bought turned out to be of poor quality, but the flash drive and the rest work through it ok).

Pros
  • 1) Good sound. Bought mainly for games. I am not a music lover, therefore, I will not dig deep, you can see the tests in special forums (for example: https://www. Audiosciencereview. Com/forum/index. Php?threads/review-and-measurements-of-sound-blasterx -g6.7016/), I will tell you about my feelings as an ordinary unenlightened user. It connects and configures quickly (connected to a computer via micro usb). I tried to compare with the built-in sound card on the computer (motherboard - Gigabyte Z390 aorus ultra) - it feels difficult to catch a big difference if you have a good motherboard, especially when listening to songs on FB or watching videos on YouTube. I even downloaded songs in flac format, I didnโ€™t notice much difference. To complete the picture, I use HyperX Cloud Alpha S headphones (I connected the headphones directly to the motherboard for comparison, removing the headphone usb adapter so that the signal does not go through the sound card built into the headphones). But the volume on the computer's built-in sound card is very limited, and the G6 has a big advantage here. 2) The maximum volume is quite decent, with a margin (see comment). 3) All sorts of software buns (but this is not for everybody, there are also disadvantages - see comment).
Cons
  • 1) Software (see comment). 2) Broke (see comment). 3) Plastic and lightweight case, it would be nicer if it were made of metal. 4) The volume knob spins without a tactile response (smoothly, like adjusting the sound on speakers, only more tightly). For some reason, before buying, I thought that it was like a mouse scroll (with hooks).
