I installed the pedals on my new Peloton using some Phil Wood Waterproof Grease on the threads and a Pro Park pedal wrench. Easiest and took 5 minutes. I looked at the SPD cleat assembly instructions and found that the instructions say the pedals should be replaced every 6 months. If these pedals don't last 6 months, they must be junk. The Look pedals on my road bike have withstood a good 20 years of hard riding. No problem. I would have given 5 stars if the company hadn't told me "You have to throw them out after 6 months".
