BUYER BEWARE Best in Computers and Accessories

If it works, this drive works fine. It's fast (maximum 2.9 GB/s on my system) and easy to use. I bought the drive in October 2019 but the problems with the drive started in August 2020 and completely failed in September 2020 meaning it only lasted 11 months and that's where the problems come in. First, PNY does not provide diagnostics. Tool. When I first had problems, all the SMART reports said everything was fine, but the Dell utility showed problems. However, it was not possible to run further tests to confirm the information about the Dell utility. Talking to customer service was fine and they gave me an RMA number so I could send the disc back, but with two main problems: 1) They didn't ship the replacement early. I did an RMA with Western Digital a few years ago and they took my billing information and sent a new drive with the agreement that if I didn't return the defective one they would charge for a replacement. There is no such option for PNY so I had two options; Do you give up a computer for two weeks to get an RMA, or buy a replacement yourself and... try to resell it later? 2) Return shipping is paid by customer, not PNY. It's not a huge expense, but again, it's a blow to them, especially since the problem is that the drive has failed, so it's not my fault. So I ordered a cheap temporary disk and luckily it arrived the next day after this disk. completely given up (again the day before, all the SMART reports said everything was fine, but the Dell utility said there were problems). I sent the disc back on Monday, it arrived on Friday and they sent a replacement on Tuesday and it arrived on Saturday. That's a total of 13 days for repairs from the date the drive shipped to receiving the replacement unit. The replacement is brand new and looks like an updated version (flash modules are thinner and they are only on one side not both sides). It works well and I hope it lasts a few years but I'm not holding my breath. If they would pay for the return shipping and give me an opportunity to get a replacement before sending the failed drive back, this review would be glowing. But because of these issues, I can't recommend buying PNY hard drives because when you have to claim the 5-year warranty, it's a pain.
