It took several hours to assemble, partly because I couldn't find the damn elevator part, but it was wrapped in a furniture box, in the tub. TIP: Use a drill to assemble, and if you can somehow make something out of an allen wrench and stick it in the drill, you should be able to put this thing together in under an hour. The elevator is a bit stiff, I think partly because that particular wall is a little warped. But I can live with that, 5 stars anyway. They love all the pieces that go with it. The furniture is very durable, thick, blocky, but at the same time charming. Came in a heavy box. TIP: Mark the place where you want to collect. TIP: If it's a surprise and you want to set it up in the garage or elsewhere, have a board handy to hang it up. You need two people to move very carefully. Music and a drink when you pick it up is a chore. TIP: The screws can be color matched to the walls they will be embedded in. Choose the right colors. TIP: Record the memory on your camcorder when showing the girls.
