Great Price for 100% Cotton Paper!

I'm new to watercolor, and I've only just started to experiment with better supplies. I'm using artist grade paint, good brushes, and now 100% cotton paper. So far I've used Bee Paper and Canson Rough. This Fluid 100 comes in right in the middle of those two, and if I were to compare apples to apples, I have to leave the Canson out because it is very expensive and it shows.I prefer more texture in my paper and the Fluid definitely has more than the Bee Paper. It is very easy to paint on and handles multiple washes and water better than Bee also. The value of Fluid paper is obvious. You get a block (not a pad) of 15 sheets that are pretty big (9x12) for under $20. Can't beat that.I will say, so far I'm not a fan of the block vs. a pad or individual sheets. I suppose I'll need to get used to it, but after three paintings, I'm just tearing the sheets off and taping them down. For new painters, painting on a block can be a little, well, weird, but tearing the individual sheets off is very easy here. So, instead of paying $70+ for 20 sheets of Arches, or almost $30 for 12 of the Canson Rough, you can't go wrong here at all. Especially if you're a novice painter. If you are, you NEED to be using 100% cotton paper. Why not make it easy on your wallet?

Pros
  • Paper
Cons
  • The pad may not be durable enough for artists who need to travel with their supplies or work in outdoor settings
