1) The iPad, like any other electronics, is NOT made for children or other destructive people. Get APPLE CARE in case of accidental damage. 2) The cover is designed to protect against normal wear and tear; Scratches etc. It's the same as the cover that protects the book BUT if you spill water on the book or get a dent on it nobody talks about how badly the cover was made. Any bad comments about it and any cover are usually caused by human error or improper handling of packaging during shipping. This lid serves its purpose and like any other plastic item is NOT ALWAYS rated. I recommend it.
