Review on TOTO ST743S 01 Flushing System by Chuck Hernandez

Revainrating 4 out of 5

1.28 GPF that will replace the ST743S#01 tank for Toto Drake.

I had a cracked tank on my Toto Drake and had to order a replacement but the ST743S#01 that fits my cracked tank could not be shipped to my area. I did a search and found that California no longer allows the sale of toilets or 1.6 GPF tanks. To get a replacement tank I had to order this model, TOTO ST743E #01, which is 1.28 GPF versus 1.6 GPF. CT743C#01. The main difference lies in the mounting of the damper. The handle and inflation valve look the same, but otherwise the screw pattern, tank shape, and lid are identical. To be honest, I prefer the ST743S#01 with the red flapper over the ST743E#01 with the E-Max plastic valve, so I removed the assembly from the bowl that was cracked and installed it in the new bowl . I'm replacing the fill valve tonight. It's very noisy compared to the Korky 528T I installed a while ago. Overall I am very happy with the Toto Drake toilets and glad I was able to order a new cistern after the original one broke. One star deduction because of the very loud filling valve.

Pros
  • From the Drake Collection
Cons
  • Very expensive
