I've tried Acer, Apple, and Planar displays with a cable that I've found works can run at 1440p at 144hz without using this switch. I've spent a couple of days booting up and restarting connected computers and monitors, and I've been able to get Windows 7, macOS Sierra, and High Sierra to run 1440p displays at 60Hz on a regular basis, but this often required an AC adapter or two bikes . The exact same hardware that reboots into Windows 10 only shows 24Hz as an option on about half of my reboots and full monitor range on the other half of my reboots. But on Windows 10, selecting a frequency other than 24Hz with a monitor connected resulted in no signal coming out of the switch at all, and quite often it also caused the USB to hang. So Windows 7 and macOS can be used, but you'll spend more time turning on and restarting than you would ever spend simply plugging in cables when you want to switch. On Windows 10 it's a useless building block - and how the heck they managed to get KVM to care about the OS version of the computers is baffling, it should only care about transferring data over the cable. To clarify a couple of points, firstly, this unit needs to be cycled on and off regularly, even when running Windows 7, and the only way to do that is by unplugging the power cord, so rack mounting can be a huge hassle ; Second, 24Hz is too slow for the human eye because, for example, dragging a large window across the screen can cause the window to warp as the bottom moves to the top and the mouse pointer jumps and jumps. [Update] I was able to get a display to run at 60Hz on Windows 10. Two or more seem to break (or rather cause a 24Hz cap) on Windows 10. However, I then discovered another issue with this switch's DisplayPort handling: After Windows 7, 10, or macOS puts the display to sleep, there's a 50/50 chance that it will take 1-3 power cycles to wake up the switch again to connect. displayed when the operating system tries to wake it up. Again, the only way to cycle power is to unplug it from the back of the switches. So doubly annoying.
