Review on Motorcraft SW6350 Brake Repair Kit by David Ocampo

Fixed my Ford Ranger cruise control problem

TLDR version: This brake repair kit solved my problem with a faulty cruise control on a 2002 Ford Ranger pickup. Received in original Motorcraft packaging. Fits like factory. Went like clockwork. Long version: We have a 2002 Ford Ranger Edge Pickup which is an additional vehicle for us that is used for local transport and gardening. The cruise control stopped working over a year ago, but that wasn't a problem as we rarely drive it long distances. After lugging some gear for my son from Tennessee to Ohio and back without cruise control, I decided it was time for a fix (yes, cruise control spoiled me). The symptom was that after turning on the cruise control, the cruise control light on the dashboard only flashed, but did not burn. While servicing a truck at a local Ford dealership, I asked them to diagnose the problem for me. Their verdict... "Your cruise control servo is defective." They cited the repair cost as approximately $750 for repairs. It was more than I wanted to pay for a truck that sits in the driveway most of the time. After some research I found that replacing this block is not that difficult. After finding one online at a retailer for $25, I swapped it out (which took all of 15 minutes). To my surprise, this didn't fix the problem and I still had flashing cruise control and no cruise control. Hours of reading and searching the internet led me to purchase this brake activation sensor/switch. Installed in 5-10 minutes and the problem was gone. Since that sensor/switch failed, every time I tried to engage the cruise control, the sensor would tell the servo that the brake was applied and disable the cruise control. That was why the lightbulb lit up and then went out. Replacing the faulty brake sensor was all that was required to fix the problem. As a side note, the cruise control on this truck was previously recalled by Ford because of the cruise control units. They installed a wiring harness with a built-in fuse to prevent a fire, but didn't replace the original brake sensor because it wasn't leaking. You can tell whether your sensor is original by the color. Original - orange ... replacement - black. I hope this information is useful for those who face the same problem.
