First of all I would like to say that this product arrived as advertised and worked well. I have no complaints about the quality of the instrument or any other attributes. He did what he had to do. However, I bought the stone to sharpen chisels and planes. It worked, but the stone had to be leveled again and again. I used 220 grit sandpaper on a granite slab. I went through a lot of paper to keep the rock flat. Half the reason I bought the stone was to reduce the amount of sandpaper I rubbed. I haven't gained much in that regard. My only other option was to buy a rough diamond stone to smooth the water stone. Of course I could just use a diamond stone to align the tools. However, I should have just bought a diamond stone to smooth the tools and ditched the water stone altogether. I can't fault the product for not being able to think things through. I'm sure this water stone will prove useful for many purposes. I don't think this is the best option for what I had to do.
