Advantages: Beautiful shape, not too big. Has an on/off switch (look at you PopLite!) Seeds go in the bowl! It is very good. Almost never crashes. Most cores fly out. I don't think the dud is the machine's fault. It doesn't look like the car has changed or worked with them differently. Offers decent returns. One serving can fill a fairly large bowl. Definitely a lot for one person. It's not like that's stopping me from fielding one of them or anything. Neutral: noise. I honestly don't know if it's louder or quieter than most. I'm very curious how the comparison between him and PopLite will sound. The sound isn't unbearable, but it's not a quiet hum either. But I really don't expect an air popper to be that quiet. I'd probably be upset if I knew it was louder than others, but not knowing it may be average, and maybe others are louder. Although I think it's average. Cons: Nut scoop/butter melter (which I would never use to melt butter) rattles like. beanbag. It has no ridges or grooves or anything else to hold it in place. This is extremely annoying. I put something on it with some weight while clapping. Usually a salt shaker or whatever I can find nearby will hold it in place. If this wasn't a problem I would feel a lot better about giving it 5 stars or recommending it. and I think most other poppers probably have the same risk (I've read reports that almost all other models do). As a side note, I also have a Salbree microwaveable silicone popper bowl. The popped corn from this one seems drier (in a good way) and not as chewy (although it's not that bad in Salbri either). I love and use both at different times. I haven't compared popcorn from this one to popcorn on the stovetop, but I think I'll pick up a Swirl Pop soon. Although it's not quite the same that air poppers are oil-free while vortex poppers use oil. Of course it will taste different. But it will be interesting to see how it compares and what advantages or trade-offs there might be. Haven't tried enough other poppers to say this is the best, but I'm happy with it so far. The PopLite seems to be the closest competitor, but I find it utterly ridiculous that such a popular device doesn't even have an on/off switch. I can only imagine the candle sparkling every time I turn it on or take it out. I suppose you could plug an extension cord with a switch between it and the outlet, but who wants that? Because of this, it has this advantage. I've heard of other poppers throwing grains and popcorn all over the place but this one just doesn't do it. Actually popping the corn and popping it into the bowl is what this machine does pretty well, and those are the most important things.
