Predominantly aluminum housing, high data transfer rate, SD cards could be better.

This is a good all-in-one solution when I need to transfer, upload and edit files from different SD cards to one enclosure SSD or use it as a USB hub along with other peripherals. The case itself feels solid thanks to the aluminum body (0.7mm thick). Along with the aluminum case, your drive sits in a hard plastic shell that reinforces the case and it has rails that hold the plastic back cover in place. There are also thin foam pads on three sides to keep the drive in place. The plastic backing is textured for a better grip but still very slippery. When I opened the case to install the drive, I felt like I was about to break the plastic cover. But after opening and closing it a few times, I found that it opens quite easily if you press the center of the lid and slide it at the same time; a bit of wiggling helps too. The USB 3.0 cable is inside the case. Inside the box are basic instructions and three extra foam pads (0.5mm, 2.7mm, and 5.7mm) for extra cushioning between the installed hard drive and the plastic cover. If you want to secure the drive and avoid damage to the SATA connector, you need to install standoffs. In my case I had a Samsung EVO 850 SSD installed and with this drive I would need the 2 thickest foam pads to hold it securely. It's probably not that important to use spacers with an SSD drive, but if you're using a spindle drive, spacers are a must. My only issue with the SD card reader ports, particularly the micro SD port (see) is that both the micro SD and SD cards either wobbled a little when inserted or didn't seat properly in the slot. I hope that moving the cards over time doesn't damage and short-circuit the contacts inside the reader.

Pros
  • INTERNAL STORAGE EXPANSION - Supports 2.5" SATA Gen3 for hard drives less than 15mm thick and 2.5" SATA Gen3 for SSDs to expand the digital storage space for your desktop, laptop and game console extend.
Cons
  • Band
