Review on ๐Ÿ“ถ D-Link DI-524 Wireless High-Speed Router (802.11g) - 54 Mbps by Jerry Peebler

Revainrating 4 out of 5

UPDATE: Great value and great UI, but reloads

UPDATE: I installed 10 of these routers for different people. It usually works fine, but when problems arise, such as B. a bad DSL line or certain types of radio interference (near a 2.4 GHz cordless phone), I find that the DI-524 responds with a reboot to clear the errors. Wired people seem to have fewer problems. On several occasions I have had to switch to a different router after rebooting. Therefore, during the first few days of operation, carefully examine the log of your router to make sure that you do not encounter any problems. . I don't think many people realize that in order to achieve the higher speeds (beyond 802.11g 54Mbps) advertised by more expensive routers, the end device has to match the router, which of course almost never happens. Furthermore, 54 Mbps, even reduced for real-world use, is well beyond the reach of almost all consumer broadband connections. Combining a 4-port wired router with a reliable wireless access point at this price point is hard to beat. If you need to port forward for gaming or remote access, this router is one of the easiest to set up I've seen. Instead of setting up a target computer with a fixed IP address, the router allows you to easily assign a MAC address for that computer for IP reassignment on a DHCP server.
