No surprises for computers and accessories

The router installs easily and without surprises. The only disappointment was that the setup software that came with it is only a DEMO that will expire in about a month but will still work with the Windows XP utilities. It's cheap and small. It has a detachable antenna so you can install a more powerful or external antenna if needed. This unit requires an AC adapter (wall mount) which is a problem if you plan to mount the unit high up on a wall as the DC power cord is only about 6 feet long so…

Not as good as my current D-Link router

I used to have a D-Link DI-713P 802.11b wireless router that worked really well and I got this one to get faster speeds and to have more firewall features (and low price). To get it working with my cable modem, I first had to do what others here have said (and damn I'm glad they reported it), which was to drop the WAN port speed from 100 to 10 Mbps . Then I wanted to use MAC address filtering, a really good security feature that I used with the old one. I also wanted to use WEP encryption as…

UPDATE: Great value and great UI, but reloads

UPDATE: I installed 10 of these routers for different people. It usually works fine, but when problems arise, such as B. a bad DSL line or certain types of radio interference (near a 2.4 GHz cordless phone), I find that the DI-524 responds with a reboot to clear the errors. Wired people seem to have fewer problems. On several occasions I have had to switch to a different router after rebooting. Therefore, during the first few days of operation, carefully examine the log of your router to make…

Terrible Router - Router

I moved my previous combination, D-Link DI-604 and Apple Airport Base Station, to my work place so I needed a new router at home. The previous combination worked great, so I figured it wouldn't be a problem to switch to a different D-Link router. The DI-524 proved unusable for two reasons. First, and more importantly, the router randomly blocked websites, requiring DHCP reissues and resets. Two calls to D-Link tech support is utterly useless. I've tried resetting the router, changing the MTU…
